To the People’s of the world.

Today, 75 years ago, with the stroke of a pen, upon the deck of the battleship, Missouri. While anchored in Tokyo Harbour.  The end of what the Japanese called, “The Pacific War” took place. VJ Day.

As such it also marked the end of 6 years of world conflict. Between the Axis powers and the World Allies. Countless lives had been lost. Casualties would still need to be cared for. Enormous amounts of materials had been expended, wasted, or lost.  Nations and lives would have to be rebuilt.

The cost! Not just in a monetary sense could never really be counted. But the cost of human suffering which would be, to those left, to be mourned and remember. The lost and the loved. Families, some completely gone, others left to be found, if possible.

Parents waiting for sons and daughters to come home. Husbands and wives looking to reunite. Children looking for those familiar faces in the crowds. Babies who will grow up never knowing. The truly tragic results of man’s inhumanity to man.

The question then is? What did the world truly learn? After 75 years, it might seem, nothing. The ravages of war and unrest still exist. Externally and internally between an in nations. The search for peace is constantly being negotiated.

But in time. Perhaps we can teach, so that it can be said. I will make a difference!

“I will make war no more.” And furthermore, “I will not allow others to make war for me either”. A world of one nation, under a Supreme being, with injustice and malice towards none. As in what is sung, “What a wonderful world!” Oh yah.

Lest we forget
